Independence Day
Freedom and Independence. . .
Technology has come so far that the supermarket register can allege shopper theft (store cameras THINK they know everything!) and Google has been Hacked. . . (Um may want to give them the info back.)
In spite of this fear and drama, so many have sacrificed so that we have the Freedom:
To choose one’s own religion (or none at all)
To speak [truthfully] (Slander and lies aren’t specifically outlawed but if want jail time (e.g perjury) or a lawsuit . . )
Of the press to print information independent of Governmental interference.
To peaceably assemble with other like minded people
To bear arms (to protect ourselves from varmints, vandals and an over active enforcement if need be)
From soldiers living in your house during peacetime
From Government arrest/seizure unless a warrant has been issued
To stay silent when questioned
To be tried only once for a crime
From government seizure of life, liberty or property without following proper legal procedures.
Of a speedy and public trial by jury
To have an attorney paid for by the state [only when punishment is death or imprisonment]
To have a reasonable fine (when required by law)
From cruel and unusual punishment
Of a limited government. That the States and Citizens have separate rights. Splitting these rights keeps the government small. Protects freedom by making it hard for government to strip citizens of their rights.
It’s amazing that a “ragtag” bunch of farmers, merchants, preachers and statesmen could craft such an arrangement, and that it has lasted nearly 250 years. God has blessed. May we never forget that our Freedoms and our Nation’s Independence is because of our Dependence on HIM. May He continue to Bless the USA. . .
